Christopher is a young conductor based in South London.
He is the co-founder, with composer Kate Whitley, of the RPS Award winning Multi-Story Orchestra, based in a Peckham Car Park with whom he made his BBC Proms debut in 2016.
Christopher studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, and with Peter Stark, Jorma Panula and Stephen Layton.
Since graduating he has worked on the music staff of Glyndebourne Festival and Tour; he assisted Music Director Robin Ticciati on Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail and was awarded the Lefever Study Award in 2014 for work on Britten’s The Turn of the Screw.
Christopher is Principal Conductor of Blackheath Halls Community Orchestra and Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra.
Upcoming projects include a BBC Proms Inspire concert with the Aurora Orchestra, and work on the music staff of Oper Köln as Assistant Conductor for Britten's Peter Grimes, and a summer of orchestral projects with the Multi-Story Orchestra.
He is currently conducting Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro for English Touring Opera around the UK.
‘It is exceptionally well conducted by Christopher Stark, a rising star best known for presenting thunderous contemporary scores in a Peckham car park with his Multi-Story Orchestra. Here, however, he shows how elegantly he can shape Mozart, coaxing beautiful textures from his players and pacing the arias perfectly to showcase the young cast’
Richard Morrison, The Times
‘Christopher conducts with great flair and intelligence and there’s wonderfully supple, detailed playing from the ETO orchestra’
